The Property
Tucked into the terraced slopes above Nainital, Hotel Kafal Inn is a boutique mountain retreat named for the wild kafal berry that colours these hills each summer. Twelve individually styled rooms open to uninterrupted views of the Kumaon range, where the day begins with birdsong and ends with the valley glowing amber.
Ours is a house built around slowness — hand-woven textiles from local looms, slate underfoot, log fires at dusk, and mornings that ask nothing of you but a second cup of chai. Whether you have come to trek the ridge trails or simply to read by the window as the mist rolls in, Kafal Inn is designed to feel less like a hotel and more like a friend's home in the mountains.

Our kitchen cooks with the seasons and the neighbourhood — orchard fruit, foraged greens, stone-ground grains, and slow Kumaoni recipes passed down through the families who cook them. Meals are served on the terrace when the weather is kind, and by the fire when it is not.

Find us
Perched above Nainital in the Kumaon Himalayas, roughly 35 km from Kathgodam railway station and a scenic three-hour drive from Pantnagar airport. We are happy to arrange a pickup — the last stretch of mountain road is best enjoyed from the passenger seat.
